Oolitic Water Works Reports Contaminants Found In Water

Last updated on Monday, April 13, 2015

(OOLITIC) - According to a news release, the Oolitic Water Works reports that contaminants were detected during normal testing.

As of September 30, the maximum contaminant level for haloacetic acids was high.

Oolitic buys its water from Bedford Utilities, which is being contacted about the situation. Oolitic Water Works expects to have the problem resolved within 30 days.

Residents do not need to use alternative water sources, such as bottled water, according to a news release, but some people who drink water with high levels of haloacetic acids for many years might have increased risks of getting cancer.

If anyone has specific health concerns, Oolitic Water Works recommends talking to a doctor.

For more information, call (812) 275-6813, visit 109 Main St., Oolitic, or mail P.O. Box 7, Oolitic IN, 47451.
