Mitchell Man Arrested After Beating On Resident's Door

(MITCHELL) - A Mitchell man was arrested early Sunday morning after police were called to a home in the 900 block of Peerless Road.

Lawrence County Police were called to the home just before 4 a.m. after a man, who the residents' didn't know was beating on their door.

When the homeowners answered the door the man attempted to enter the home.

Sheriff Mike Branham says 19-year-old Dennis Davis III then grabbed the homeowner and shoved him attempting to enter the home.

The homeowner was able to keep Davis from entering, while his wife called police.

When police arrived they found Davis and the homeowner outside.

Davis, who police determined was intoxicated, continued to by loud and uncooperative with police. When police went to arrest Davis there was a brief struggle. No one was injured during the altercation.

Davis was taken to the Lawrence County Jail on charges of resisting arrest by force, disorderly conduct, illegal consumption, residential entry.
