(BLOOMFIELD) - A Linton man, who is accused of stabbing and injuring his wife, was formally charged Friday with battery, intimidation and criminal confinement all with a deadly weapon.

40-year-old Tod Coleman was arrested after police responded to a fight on April 12 after Coleman's wife was treated at Greene County General Hospital for cuts to her throat, chin, finger and her hand. The hand wound required more than 10 sutures to close.

According to the woman, the two got into an argument after the woman had hidden his Xanax. The woman hid the drug because her husband had taken too much of the drug and she was trying to prevent him from taking more.

As the two were leaving a family member's home he began yelling at her and became more agitated. The woman told police she jumped out of the moving truck while it was still in the driveway.

Coleman allegedly stopped the truck and came after her with his "Old Timer" pocket knife. He ordered the woman back into the truck and attempted to stab her with the knife. She raised her hands and was injured. He then threatened to kill her and then himself.

The woman got back into the truck and Coleman took her to the Greene Sullivan State Forest, where he allegedly took her wedding ring away from her, continued to yell and at one point placed the knife blade against her throat. After he calmed, he drove her back to the family member's residence where someone saw her injuries and she was transported to the hospital.

When police arrested Coleman he was found with two knives including the "Old Timer," and the woman's wedding ring.

Police also towed his truck and located blood stains inside. They also found several rocks at the crime location that were covered with blood splatter.

Coleman remains in jail on a $35,000 bond.
