Kent Chezem To Take Helm Of Loogootee Basketball Program

Last updated on Monday, April 20, 2015

(LOOGOOTEE) - Covington High School head basketball coach Kent Chezem was hired to revitalize the Loogootee basketball program.

He was hired Thursday night by the Loogootee School Board.

Chezem will replace Mike Hopkins, who was 8-15 in his lone season at the helm of the Lions.

Chezem has an impressive resume in his 11 years at Covington - the last two years going 40-4, ending both seasons with sectional losses to Lafayette Central Catholic.

Following the 2014 season, he was named District 2 Coach of the Year by the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association, and Small School Coach of the Year by the Lafayette Journal and Courier.
