Jury Trial Date Set For Oolitic Deputy Marshal Bill Allen

(BEDFORD) - A trial date has been set for Oolitic Deputy Marshal Bill Allen who is accused of three counts of child molesting.

43-year-old Allen is scheduled to face a jury of his peers in Lawrence County Superior Court II at 9 a.m. on September 22. A final pretrial conference is scheduled in the same court at 1 p.m. on August 24. Special Prosecutor Stan Levco is presenting the case for the state.

Bill Allen turned himself in on November 24 after a warrant was issued for his arrest. He was booked into the Lawrence County jail and then released after posting 10 percent ($10,000) of a $100,000 bond.

Allen has been suspended from duty with pay pending the results of the criminal investigation.

Allen is facing felony charges of having sexual intercourse, performing sexual deviate conduct and fondling a then 13 year-old girl between March 2008 and May 2012. Allen denies the allegations.

According to the girl the abuse started when she was about 10 years old and happened in a home in Lawrence County.

According to the affidavit. The girl said "she had learned about sex in a health class at school, and she told Allen she did not want to do 'this' anymore."
