Flood Damages Homes, Logs From Business Washed Away

(PINE VALLEY) - Pine Valley Community residents in Orange County were evacuated from their homes following a flash flood Tuesday morning

According to Orange County Rural District II Volunteer Fire Department Chief Bill Sallee, the evacuation began around 9 a.m. Residents south of Pine Valley on West County Road 675 South had to be evacuated.

Rob Andis, who owns Andis Logging located a mile south of the intersection of Ind. 37 and County Road 675 South, was among those affected as water flowed from Hogs Defeat Creek into his logging yard.

More than $8,000 worth of cedar logs floated down river.

Hogs Defeat empties into the Patoka River just south of the logging yard.
