(MITCHELL) - Firefighters from Marion, Shawswick, Guthrie and Indian Creek Townships battled a house fire at the intersection of Stonington and Earl roads Monday afternoon.
Firefighters were called to the home of Meredith and Jason Thacker around 1 p.m.
The couple and their four children were not home when the blaze started.
The family's pets, a cat and two rabbits, perished in the blaze.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Assisting at the scene was an IU Health Hospital ambulance crew and the Tabernacle of Praise Emergency Services.
