(BEDFORD) - The bridge at on Lawrenceport Road over Sugar creek is now open for traffic.
"I want to thank the residents for their patience on this being closed," says Lawrence County Highway Superintendent Dave Holmes.
Bridge 67 was closed after the roadway gave away and a vehicle fell into a 3-foot hole.
"It appears due to flooding and rising water levels there is a large void that has opened up under the road behind the bridge abutment which has caused the hole," Holmes wrote in an email after the incident.
Road crews had to wait until water levels went back to normal to make repairs.
