Becky Skillman To Be Subject Of Bedford Rotary Club Toast

(BEDFORD) - Lawrence County native Becky Skillman, Indiana’s lieutenant governor from 2005-13, will serve as the subject of a toast sponsored by the Bedford Rotary Club.

The event is scheduled for April 17 at 6 p.m. at First Baptist Church's Christian Life Center.

Tickets are $14 and available at the Bedford Area Chamber of Commerce, Travel One and Copy Trolley.

Skillman began her career in public service in 1977 when she was elected as Lawrence County recorder. Eight years later she was elected county clerk.

She also served as president of the Association of Indiana Counties. Skillman was elected to the State Senate in 1992 and became Majority Caucus Chair.

Mitch Daniels then chose her as his running mate in 2004.

She currently serves as president and CEO of Radius Indiana, an eight-county economic development corporation.

She also is teaming with former U.S. Rep. Lee Hamilton to direct the Indiana Bicentennial Commission.

Dan Bortner, director of Indiana's State Parks and Reservoirs, is the emcee for the event. Speakers include Joe Timbrook of Radius, former Senate President Pro Tem Bob Garton, Jamie Medlock of the Bedford chamber, former Indiana Republican Party Chairman Eric Holcomb, pastor Steve Niemeier and State Sen. Brent Steele.
