(BLOOMINGTON) - State Sen. Mark Stoops, D-Bloomington, confirmed he will be renovating the defunct University Inn property at 2601 N. Walnut St.into a new motel called the Cascades Inn, and could take in his first guests as soon as a month from now.
The Herald Times reports that the 3.36-acre property, first built in 1963, has sat unused for the past 18 months. In previous lives, it was a Holiday Inn, a Ramada motel and an EconoLodge before transitioning into the University Inn.
