Two Bedford Men Arrested On Drug Charges After Traffic Stop

(BEDFORD) - Two Bedford men were arrested after police found drugs in their pockets.

On Friday, a Bedford police officer received a tip that 24-year-old Cody East was driving a vehicle with a suspended license and the vehicle was improperly registered.

Officer found the vehicle at 2:41 p.m. parked at 7th and Norton Avenue.

"A short time later officers witnessed two males get into that vehicle and take off," says Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley. "Officers stopped the vehicle at 7th and J streets."

Police determined the driver 24-year-old Cody East did in fact have a suspended driver's license and that the vehicle was improperly registered.

The passenger and Cody's brother, 27-year-old Shaun East, also had a suspended driver's license so the vehicle had to be towed.

"Both men consented to a search," says Chief Parsley. "That is when officers discovered drugs and drug paraphernalia."

In Cody's pocket police found a baggie that contained a white substance that tested positive for meth.

In Shaun's pocket police found a metal pipe that contained a residue that tested positive for marijuana.

Both men were arrested.

Cody East was charged with driving while his driver's license was suspended, possession of meth, and maintaining a common nuisance. He was cited for expired license plate, false and fictitious registration.

Shaun East was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. possession of marijuana and visiting a common nuisance.
