Last updated on Wednesday, March 11, 2015

(SEYMOUR) - A Seymour man was killed Tuesday morning in a three-vehicle crash on U.S. 31 in Reddington.

According to Indiana State Police Master Trooper Tommy Walker, around 8:32 a.m. a red 2002 Dodge Durango, driven by 25-year-old Joshua Reed of Seymour, was traveling south on U.S. 31 near County Road 1000 North when it went across the center lines and struck a brown 1999 Chevy Silverado pick-up truck driven by 57-year-old Mike Hatfield of Seymour.

The Dodge Durango continued southbound in the northbound lane where it struck head-on a white 2007 International tractor-trailer that was driven by 52-year-old Curtiss Luenebrink of Seymour. The Dodge Durango spun around and went off the road, ejecting Reed from the vehicle.

Reed died at the scene from blunt force trauma. Hatfield and his two passengers were not injured. Luenebrink was uninjured as well.

Police say that speed was a contributing cause of this crash.

Master Trooper Walker was assisted at the scene by the Jackson County Sheriff Department, Jackson County EMS, Jackson County Coroner's Office, Jackson County Emergency Management, Redding Township Volunteer Fire Department and 31 Wrecker cleared the crashed vehicles from the scene.
