(BLOOMIINGTON) - Bloomington police were called to the 3300 block South Allendale Drive, at 6:51 p.m. Sunday, after a 16-year-old girl suffered a small cut to her leg.

Her 13-year-old brother had thrown a butter knife at her.

The boy told police the two got into a shouting match in the kitchen.

Police say the boy punched his sister in the face, she slapped him and he threw the butter knife.

According to Bloomington Police Capt. Joe Qualters, the boy was referred to the county juvenile probation department after being charged with battery with a deadly weapon. He was released to his mother.

Police say the girl did not need medical attention.
