(BLOOMINGTON) - An Indiana University student was arrested this week on charges of dealing drugs out of his fraternity house.
20-year-old Andrew David Thrall allegedly received a 1,000-pill shipments of Xanax in the mail and then resold them on campu. He was arrested Tuesday and charged with dealing in a controlled substance.
According to Indiana University Police Department spokesman Lt. Craig Munroe,Thrall allegedly ordered the anti-anxiety drug online and in bulk from a Canadian pharmacy and had several shipments mailed to IU's Alpha Chi Omega sorority house at 1000 North Jordan Ave.
Munroe says a friend of Thrall's who lives at the sorority house; claimed to be unaware of what was in the packages she received on behalf of her friend and has not been charged.
She told police Thrall had asked to have the packages sent there because the mailroom at his fraternity house, Delta Tau Delta, "was a mess."
Munroe says investigators, who have been on the case since November, learned when a shipment was to arrive and arrested Thrall at the sorority house when the package arrived.
Thrall was arrested and taken to the Monroe County Jail at 1:22 p.m. Tuesday. His bond was set at $15,000 surety and $500 cash.
Officers from the Drug Enforcement Administration and the U.S. Postal Service assisted in the investigation since it involved the mail that was shipped across state lines.
