Fire Destroys Garage Full Of Motorcycles

Last updated on Tuesday, March 10, 2015

(BEDFORD) - A fire destroyed a garage on Monday in the 800 block of State Road 458.

According to Indian Creek Volunteer Fire Department Chief Monty Wright, firefighters arrived at 6:19 p.m. to find the 30-foot by 40-foot garage engulfed in flames.

"The garage and its contents were destroyed," Wright says. "We have the state fire marshal coming today to help determine the cause."

Wright says the garage owned by Reno Riggles held a lot of motorcycles.

"It was a side business for him to repair the bikes and there were several in the building at the time of the fire," Wright says. "We got the fire knocked down pretty quick. The building is still standing but it will have to be tore down."

Oolitic Volunteer Fire Department firefighters assisted in battling the blaze.

"We had five fire trucks and probably 12 to 15 firefighters on the scene," Wright added.

Tabernacle of Praise Emergency Services were also on the scene during the blaze.

Jeremy Marsh, co-owner of So Sick Kustomz, says the fire started by the garage door. Marsh says twelve motorcycles were in the garage when it caught fire, and none of them are salvageable.
