Economic Development Income Tax Funds Used To Purchase Property In Daviess Co.

Last updated on Wednesday, March 11, 2015

(DAVIESS CO.) - The Washington City Council and Daviess County Commissioners passed resolutions Monday to use Economic Development Income Tax funds to join together to buy 14.2 acres of surplus land from INDOT.

The property includes the old REMC office near the I-69 and US 50 interchange. After purchase, the city and county will re-sell the property to the Daviess County Economic Development Foundation for potential economic growth.

The total price of the property was nearly $557,000. City EDIT money will pay for $160,000 and the county's EDIT fund pays the rest. The Economic Development Foundation will then purchase the property from the city and county.

The city will be responsible for maintenance on the stretch of road.
