City Of Bedford To Purchase Two Trucks For Sanitation Dept.

Last updated on Thursday, March 19, 2015

(BEDFORD) - The Bedford Board of Works voted to purchase two trucks for the sanitation department.

One will be purchased from the city of Muncie for $86,000. The truck is equipped with the mechanical arm that grasps the toters to dump into the truck.

The second vehicle is a demo unit and also has a mechanical arm and claw. It is designed to pick up piles of brush and dump it into a truck. The unit is being provided by Best Equipment and will cost $145,950.

Funds for the vehicles come out of the utilities budget.

Bedford Utilities Manager Misty Adams says the city plans to keep its current vehicles to use for compost runs or picking up and dumping the green toters.
