Bloomington Officials Continue To Review Food Truck Ordinance

Last updated on Thursday, March 12, 2015

(BLOOMINGTON) - Bloomington officials will continue to discuss the best way to balance food trucks and traditional restaurants during a review of a proposed ordinance.

The Bloomington City Council is set to review newly revised regulations for food trucks, food carts and solicitors on Wednesday. The Herald Times reports the ordinance includes a list of location restrictions, safety requirements, fees, permit components, penalties for noncompliance and standards of conduct.

City staff is recommending less stringent restrictions on food trucks' generator noise and perimeter from restaurants than what initially was suggested. Staff also recommends prohibiting private agreements between brick-and-mortar establishments and vendors, as well as limiting use of a publicly-owned parking lot for private business use.

The ordinance's original draft was presented in November.
