Bicycle Tour Highlights Limestone

(BLOOMINGTON) - Monroe Lake is offering a bicycle tour on May 2 that will highlight how limestone shaped the development and identity of Salt Creek communities during the 1800s and early 1900s.

The "History 'Carved' in Stone" tour will begin at noon, cover about 25 miles and last about 4 ½  hours.
 
Participants will learn about local limestone, how limestone influenced early settlers, limestone's role in construction of Monroe Lake and dam, and how limestone influences the community today.
 
The tour is limited to 10 people, ages 15 and older, and is recommended for intermediate to advanced bicyclists. Advance registration is required by April 28. The program fee is $15 per person.
