Bedford Police Say Road Conditions Hazardous

(BEDFORD) - A Winter storm warning remains in effect until 7 p.m. tonight.

The National Weather service in Indianapolis has issued a winter storm warning for heavy snow. Many areas have seen 3 to 4 inches through early this morning. An additional 1 to 3 inches are possible today with total snow accumulations for 5 to 7 inches.

Travel conditions are hazardous due to the accumulating snow. Visibility in some areas with heavy snowfall can reduce visibility.

Police say driving conditions around Lawrence County are difficulty. If you are traveling today, use caution and be prepared for travel delays due to accumulating snow. Lawrence County Police say roadways are slick and hazardous from the latest round of winter weather.


The following counties are listed under a Level 1 travel advisory: Monroe, Brown, Lawrence, Jackson, Orange, Greene, Daviess.

Level 1: The lowest level of local travel advisory, means that routine travel or activities may be restricted in areas because of a hazardous situation, and individuals should use caution or avoid those areas.

Morgan County is listed at a Level 2: Means that conditions are threatening to the safety of the public. During a "watch" local travel advisory, only essential travel, such as to and from work or in emergency situations, is recommended, and emergency action plans should be implemented by businesses, schools, government agencies, and other organizations.

Marion County is at a Level 3 - The highest level of local travel advisory, means that travel may be restricted to emergency management workers only. During a "warning" local travel advisory, individuals are directed to:
(A) refrain from all travel;
(B) comply with necessary emergency measures;
(C) cooperate with public officials and disaster services forces in executing emergency operations plans; and
(D) obey and comply with the lawful directions of properly identified officers.
