6-Year-Old Given Award After Calling 911

Last updated on Wednesday, March 11, 2015

(BLOOMINGTON) - Bloomington Police presented Jaden Padawan with a Merit Certificate and Community Service Award.

Last year, 6-year-old Jaden called 911 on a cell phone after finding her grandmother unconscious due to a medical circumstance. She was unsure of the address, but she was able to provide enough information for emergency services to arrive and save her grandmother.

Dispatcher Fred Sturgeon took the 911 call and asked several questions of her that helped make it a successful outcome. He, too, was awarded a Merit Certificate for his efforts.
