Woman Arrested After Police Determine She Was Driving Under Influence Of Drugs

(DAVIESS CO.) - State police stopped a motorist for speeding Daviess County Monday and the investigation led to marijuana and alcohol charges against the driver.

At 1:25-pm, troopers were patrolling US 50 near Cannelburg Road and saw a 2000 Chevy Impala traveling 78 mph in a 50 mph zone.

After pulling the car over, officers smell pot and a search turned up some marijuana.

The driver, 29-year-old Brittany Smith of Vincennes was found to be operating the vehicle under the influence of marijuana as well as meth and opiates.

She was taken to the Daviess County Security Center charged with misdemeanor counts of possession of marijuana and operating while intoxicated and a felony count of operating while intoxicated with a prior conviction.
