(BEDFORD) - A Bedford woman was injured and had to be freed from her vehicle after she crashed into a utility police Monday morning.

According to a Lawrence County Police report, 23-year-old Samantha Stigall of Bedford was traveling west on Tunnelton Road when her 2007 Pontiac G8 crossed the center line and left the roadway, striking a utility pole then went through some small trees stopping in a ditch.

Stigall was freed from the wreckage by firefighters from Bedford Fire Department extrication team.

Police says Stigall would not calm down enough for police to speak to her. Police say there was a strong odor of burnt marijuana in the car and the driver had marijuana and some other drugs on her person.

Stigall complained of neck pain and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Police did request a blood sample be taken at the hospital.

Her passenger, a 4-month-old boy whom was restrained in a car seat, suffered minor red marks around his neck area from the car seat safety belt.

Assisting at the scene was a Seals ambulance crew and the Shawswick Volunteer Fire Department.
