(SULLIVAN) - Two Dugger residents were arrested after the vehicle they were in was pulled over for a traffic violation and police found meth and marijuana.
According to an Indiana State Police report, Trooper Brent Robinson was on routine patrol Monday night when he saw a 1996 Dodge pickup truck failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Terhune and Short streets and again failed to stop at the intersection of Short and Laughlin streets in Dugger.
After stopping the truck the trooper noticed the driver was nervous and witnessed the driver was attempting to stuff a plastic bag between the front seats and then passed the bag to the female passenger.
The woman then stuffed the plastic bag under her clothing.
When the trooper asked her about it she began yelling at the trooper and refused to comply with his commands.
After a brief struggle, 33-year-old Leigh Ann Lovelace was arrested on charges of dealing meth and marijuana, possession of meth and marijuana, maintaining a common nuisance, possession of a schedule II controlled substance and resisting arrest.
The driver 43-year-old Michael Neff was arrested on charges of dealing meth and marijuana, possession of meth and marijuana and maintaining a common nuisance.
During their investigation officers found a plastic bag with about 4 grams of meth, another bag that Lovelace hid under her clothes that contained about 130 grams of marijuana another three grams of marijuana in her purse along with five painkillers, and 1.5 depressant pills.
Assisting at the scene were ISP Trooper T.J. Henning, Sullivan County Sheriff Clark Cottom and Deputies Sgt. Bill Snead, Josh Cary and Justin Bell.
