Phil Burke Named Ground Superintendent At Otis Park Golf Course

(BEDFORD) - The Bedford Parks Board named Phil Burke As the new ground superintendent at Otis Park Golf Course.

The Times Mail reports that Burke will replace Brice Gordon who left the position in September.

Burke, from Valparaiso where he served as an assistant superintendent at two golf courses also studied horticulture at Danville Area College. His first day will be February 28. He will reside at the Red Brick until he finds housing.

Parks Director Barry Jeskewich updated the board on other measures taken at the golf course:

  • An area has been created to store chemicals used at the course
  • Carpets in the pro shop and Otis Park Bath House were shampooed
  • A new door and deck was installed at the soccer complex concession stand
  • The Bedford Recreation Foundation purchased new grills for the picnic areas at the park. They will be installed this spring
  • Community Correction workers worked on clean-up projects at Otis
