Last updated on Monday, February 9, 2015

(BLOOMINGTON) - Firefighters battle a blaze in a home on Covenanter Drive on the east side of Bloomington Friday afternoon.

The fire is believed to have started in a second-story bathroom. The homeowners were not home when the fire started. A passerby saw smoke bellowing from the home and called 911.

Three cats died in a house fire but firefighters were able to save the family's dog after the dog was found in a backroom on the first floor of the home.

One firefighter did suffer a leg and ankle injury and was treated at the scene.
