Last updated on Monday, February 2, 2015

(ORANGE CO.) - After several months of research and interviews, the Orange County REMC board of directors has selected Matthew C. Deaton to fill the role of CEO, which current CEO Danny L. Arnold will vacate in mid-April due to retirement.

"From now until April, Danny will still be at the REMC introducing Matthew to people in the industry, particularly at Indiana Electric Cooperatives in Indianapolis, Hoosier Energy in Bloomington, and managers and CEOs at other electric cooperatives across the state," commented Orange County REMC Board President, Danny Easterday.

Deaton grew up in the Campbellsburg area and graduated from West Washington High School. He then attended the University of Evansville where he earned degrees in civil and mechanical engineering. He is also a Certified Energy Manager (CEM).

He began his professional career at Messer Construction, then later worked for Netshape Technologies in Campbellsburg. Most recently, he worked at Crane Army Ammunition Activity.

"Matthew's previous experience with short- mid- and long-term strategic planning should serve him well as he takes the reins at Orange County REMC," said Easterday. The board of directors and I feel confident he can handle the duties of CEO superbly, and will bring fresh perspective to the local REMC as well as the electric utility industry at large. He has also noted that he is excited about the possibility of serving on local boards or committees and giving back to the community where he grew up."
