One Person Injured After Rear-End Collision At 16th And L Streets

(BEDFORD) - One person was injured after a rear-end collision at 16th and L streets Tuesday morning.

According to a Bedford Police report, the accident happened just after 10 a.m.

According to police, 17-year-old James Tiptonof Bedford was traveling eastbound on 16th Street and was approaching L Street when he noticed a 1995 Subaru Legacy traveling in front of him when she suddenly stopped. Tipton told police he attempted to stop but rear-ended the vehicle with his 1991 Honda Accord.

When police arrived on the scene the driver of the Legacy, 45-year-old Teresa Jenkins of Bedford, was having a seizure. The seizure lasted for about 20 seconds.

Jenkins told police she had not had a seizure in a long time and that they are brought on by stress and fear.

Jenkins told police she had stopped at the light when her vehicle was suddenly hit from behind.

An off-duty Lawrence County Police officer witnessed the accident and confirmed that Jenkins was stopped at the light when the accident happened.

Tipton was not injured, but Jenkins complained of chest pain.

A Seals ambulance assisted at the scene.
