(BROWNSTOWN) - An Elizabethtown couple’s proposal to open a seasonal campground and canoe and kayak rental business just west of Brownstown recently received final approval.
Joseph E. Braughton Jr. and his wife Kealy plan to have the operation along the northeast side of the East Fork White River just west of Brownstown up and running this spring.
The Seymour Tribune reports that the Braughtons recently received approval from the Jackson County Board of Zoning Appeals.
Along with seasonal nightly camping and canoe and kayak rental, the couple was considering offering flat-track racing, a mud pit and other recreational activities. But after speaking with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources and learning about regulations they had to follow and permits that would be needed, they scaled it back to just camping and canoe and kayak rental.
