(BEDFORD) - A Bedford man was sentenced to six years in prison after he pleaded guilty to biting a toddler.

21-year-old Jacob Steber of Bedford pleaded guilty to a Class B felony charge of battery resulting in serious bodily injury to a person younger than 14.

Senior Judge Robert Bennett ordered Steber to serve two years in the Lawrence county Jail, two years on house arrest and two year on supervised probation.

Once released from jail Steber must submit to a psychological evaluation, find a job, complete a batterers prevention program and is to have no contact with the toddler.

Steber was arrested after police were notified on February 16, 2014 that a Steber had injured the child after the child's mother reported finding bruises and bite marks on the baby when she gave him a bath.

The woman asked Steber about the bite marks and he told her they happened while he was playing with the child.

The mother took the child to a local emergency room and then to Riley Hospital for Children. A Riley doctor says the child had "concerning bruises all over his body, including his ears, cheeks, forehead, buttocks, scrotum and feet and were inflicted injury."

Steber told police he had caused the injuries while playing a game he called "dog dog." Steber told police that the child first laughed when he was bit, but Steber said he bit the child harder causing the toddler pain. So much pain that the child would "scream or squeal due to the amount of pain caused by the bite."
