(BLOOMINGTON) - The Bloomington Police Department is investigating a report of an alleged sexual assault.

According to Bloomington Police Capt. Joe Qualters the investigation began at 6 p.m. Saturday after police received a call from someone at Advanced Auto Parts at 302 South Cory Lane.

A person reported a man had entered the store and indicated he had been shooting heroin.

When officers arrived they found the man who was under the influence of a controlled substance.

The man told police he had been sexually assaulted at an apartment near the auto parts store.

The man was taken by ambulance to IU Health Bloomington Hospital, but before arriving he had became uncooperative and had several emotional and verbal outbursts. After arriving at the hospital the man refused to cooperate with medical staff and refused to undergo a sexual assault exam.

The man was arrested after police discovered he was wanted on an outstanding warrant in Owen County.
