Lockhart Jr. Last To See Marina Boelter Before She Disappeared

Last updated on Saturday, February 14, 2015

(BLOOMFIED) - Bloomfield police found the body of Douglas J. “D.J.” Lockhart Jr. Thursday night. He died from a stab wound.

His death has been ruled a homicide. An autopsy Friday morning at Terre Haute Regional Hospital confirmed Lockhart died of a stab wound to the heart. The number of wounds is not known at this time.

Police say Lockhart Jr. witnessed his ex-girlfriend 18-year-old Marina Boelter leave with an older man in a car on New Year's Eve after her shift at the Bloomfield IGA. Lockhart Jr. is also the father of Boelter's son Landen. The child is currently being cared for by foster parents. Boelter's brother and sister-in-law, who live in Nevada, are working on becoming the boy's legal guardians.

Sgt. Curt Durnil says they have exhausted all leads about the car and man that allegedly Boelter left with.

Bloomfield police were called to a home 332 South Lewis Street near the Bloomfield Police Department and contacted Indiana State Police at 6:59 p.m.

Sgt. Curt Durnil says no arrests have been made. Police are investigating both cases and are not sure at this time if the murder and disappearance are linked.

Anyone with information about Lockhart's death or Boelter's disappearance are asked to call the Bloomington Indiana State Police Post.
