(MONROE CO.) - Flaggers are controlling traffic where Breeden Road crosses the new I-69 for installation of bridge beams overhead. Access is being maintained for school buses and emergency vehicles.

Starting next week, weather permitting, Indiana Department of Transportation contractors will be installing I-69 bridge beams over Carmichael Road, between State Road 45 and West Rock East Road. Crews may close Carmichael Road during daylight hours or control traffic with flaggers.

Updates will be posted to, and at INDOT's TrafficWise service, which may be accessed via, 800-261-ROAD or 511 on mobile phones.

Watch for slow loads

Drivers should continue to watch for oversize loads slowing traffic as bridge beams are delivered for I-69 in Greene and Monroe counties. In particular, drivers should watch for slow-moving beams on S.R. 37 and 45.

Concrete bridge beam delivery for I-69 has been ongoing, but will increase as contractors prepare for paving in the spring. Escort vehicles are used to help guide the trucks and trailers.
