BNL Key Club Dance Marathon Raising Money For Riley Children's Hospital

Last updated on Thursday, February 19, 2015

(BEDFORD) - The BNL Key Club says it’s time to put on your dancing shoes and boogie for Riley.

The Times Mail reports that the BNL Dance Marathon is Saturday, April 4 from noon to 6 p.m. in the Bedford North Lawrence High School Cafeteria.

Individuals and teams can sign up online.

BNL Senior Co-Chair Atalie Klumpp says the event is six hours of dancing and playing games. There will be a DJ and a few live bands and some local families to share how they have been touched by their experience with Riley Children's Hospital.

The IU Dance Marathon raised in excess of $1 million and the Bloomington South Dance Marathon raised around $100,000, explained Susan Gales of Bedford Federal Savings Bank. She hopes this event will contribute to those numbers.

Gales and Eugene Kim have formed a local subcommittee to the Bloomington Regional Council of Riley Children's Foundation. She said the purpose is to raise awareness about Riley and all of the good it does for children in the community.

Though the BNL Dance Marathon is open to the public, seating is limited within the cafeteria.

A pancake breakfast is planned for March 14 from 7 a.m. to noon at First Baptist Church. The breakfast will raise money to stage the dance marathon.

Tickets are $5.

Also helping with the events are co-chair Kirstin Clephane, who came up with the dance marathon idea, Rachael Newsome, Suzanne Schneider, Kinzie Wease and Kensi Allen.
