Bloomington Woman Charged With Animal Cruelty

Last updated on Thursday, February 26, 2015

(BLOOMINGTON) - A Bloomington woman was arrested on three counts of animal cruelty after a kitten and two small dogs were found dead in her apartment at The Pointe.

20-year-old Amanda Redman was arrested on three misdemeanor charges of animal cruelty and was released from the Monroe County Jail after posting a $1,000 surety or $500 cash bond.

Redman told police she had not been to the apartment in a week, but animal control offices say the pets were without food and water for two to three weeks.

Police were called to an apartment on South Lake Ridge Drive on Friday, February 13.

Officers secured a search warrant and along with animal control officer Amber Zikes entered the apartment and found the dead animals along with a large amount of urine and feces on the floors.

Monroe County investigators believe the cat and dogs starved to death and had been dead for a few weeks. Their remains were taken to Purdue University for necropsy, and those results are pending.
