(UNDATED) - Extreme wind chills will be dangerous Thursday and Friday.

"We are recommending people get their food, fuel medications before Thursday," says Roger Axe, director of Greene County Emergency Management Agency. "If you can reschedule appointments and other chores please do so. This applies especially to our elderly."

Danger increases in accidents outside when wind child fall to the predicted levels Thursday and Friday. Also it increases the risk for law enforcement, fire and emergency medical personnel when they have to respond in such weather.

Be sure to limit children's exposure. Have them indoors as much as possible.

"If they go out make sure they are protected from the cold," Axe added.

If you do have to travel, let friends and family know where you are going and when you will return. Also carry blankets and a cell phone to call for help.

Beware pipes could freeze. Leave a little water running. The cost is far less than a frozen busted pipe repair.

"We are asking out citizens to follow these guidelines for the wind chills so they will be around to enjoy the Spring that will eventually be here," Axe says.
