(BEDFORD) - It's the end of an era for RadioShack.

The consumer electronics retailer filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on Thursday after years of slow decline.

The Wall Street Journal reports, RadioShack will sell between 1,500 and 2,400 of its 4,000 U.S. branches to the hedge fund Standard General, which will partner with Sprint to operate up to 1,750 of the stores.

On its website, RadioShack posted a link to a potential store closure list. It names 1,784 U.S. RadioShack locations slated for possible closure. Include on the list is the Bedford Radio Shack located on John Williams Boulevard.
