Bad Breakers Shut Lights Off In Walmart Parking Lot

Last updated on Monday, February 2, 2015

(BEDFORD) - The Bedford Fire Department was called to Walmart Sunday night after employees heard a loud boom and the lights went out.

According to Bedford Fire Chief Jon Wagner, when firefighters arrived at the store at 8:49 p.m. the lights in the parking lot and on the building were off.

"There was a 3-phase panel at the back of the store where a set of breakers blew," Wagner says. "They have had problems in the past with the breakers and someone was on the way to the store to work on the problem."

There was light smoke in the building when the breakers blew.

"But it was not a concern," Wagner says. "We shut the power off to those breakers until someone could arrive to address the problem."
