(LINTON) - Thanks to the inappropriate behavior of some students in the Linton-Stockton School Corporation, many will pay a price.
Superintendent Nick Karazsia confirmed to the Greene County Daily World on Tuesday that students in both the middle school and high school are being escorted to the restroom during class time.
Graffiti written on walls a number of times in conjunction with other acts have forced the principals to have students be escorted to and from the restroom while in class. Those messages left on the walls raised questions among school officials. The incidents were investigated by internally and by the Linton Police Department.
The principals met and decided "enough was enough." The new measure was to continue to ensure the safety and health of the students, faculty and staff.
Karazsia says after a student visits a restroom, the area will be inspected for vandalism, cleanliness and any other negative activities.
Officials say parents were notified by email about the new rule, including a full explanation of what is happening. Karszsia stressed students are not being restricted in any way and the normal day, but is just to prevent any unpleasant incidents.
