(MITCHELL) - Learn the art of cornhusk doll making at a Jan. 29 workshop at Spring Mill State Park.
Participants will learn to make a small cornhusk doll, a larger, more intricate cornhusk doll, and a cornhusk rose.
The workshop runs from 10:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. in the Elm Room at Spring Mill Inn. All supplies are provided.
The workshop includes a buffet lunch at Spring Mill Inn's Millstone dining room.
A corn husk doll is an American Indian toy, made out of the dried leaves or "husk" of a corncob. Early European settlers in America adopted the craft. Corn husk doll making is now practiced in the United States as a link to early American culture.
Fifteen spots will be available. Advance registration is required by Jan. 24 by calling (812) 849-4081. The cost is $30 per person.
