(PEKIN) - Police say a 19-year-old Pekin woman has died from injuries suffered in an accident.

Floyd County police says Havannah Balentine of Pekin had died at University of Louisville Hospital Saturday.

Police say she was injured in a crash at roughly 9 a.m. Friday when the car she was driving swerved into the oncoming lane after crossing a set of railroad tracks and she over-corrected twice and struck the van.

The accident took place on Grant Line Road near Chapel Lane.

Police say Balentine was traveling south on Grant Line Road in a 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix when she crossed a set of railroad tracks in a curve and went into the northbound lane.

Police say Balentine over-corrected twice, causing her vehicle to lose control and then collided into a silver 2005 Kia van driven by 35-year-old John Wright of Borden, that was traveling northbound.

Balentine was transported to University of Louisville Hospital where she died from her injuries the following day. Three passengers traveling with Wright were transported with non life-threatening injuries.

Speed is believed to be a factor in the crash.

Police say four people in the van sustained non-life threatening injuries. Police say they believe speed was a factor in the crash.
