(OOLITIC) - An Odon man was injured after a two-vehicle accident Tuesday morning at the intersection of Ind. 37 and Patton Hill Road.

The accident happened just before 6:30 a.m.

According to a Lawrence County Police report, 53-year-old Joseph Hill was traveling south on Ind. 37 and was making a left turn onto Main Street at Oolitic when a 2008 Nissan Versa ran the red light and struck Hill's 1995 Park Avenue.

25-year-old Estevan Ayala of Mitchell told police he had been traveling north on Ind. 37 and when he noticed the stop light had turned red and he could not get stopped.

Police says Ayala was at fault for disregarding an automatic signal.

Ayala was not injured. Hill suffered chest pains during the incident.

Assisting at the scene were Oolitic Volunteer Fire Department first responders and an Indiana University Hospital ambulance.
