Last updated on Monday, January 5, 2015

(BEDFORD) - A Bedford man was arrested after police found him slumped over the steering wheel of a vehicle parked at the Bedford Public Library.

According to Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley, officers were called to the library at 3:21 p.m. on Friday.

"Officers attempted to get the man awake, but were unsuccessful," Parsley added. "They were then able to reach in through a window and shake him awake."

34-year-old Jackie Russell, of 2212 M St., was still uncooperative and not responding to officers when they got him awake.

"A Seals ambulance crew was called and attempted to help Mr. Russell and he became loud and combative," Parsley added. "Mr. Russell, who was clearly under the influence. refused medical attention and was arrested and taken to jail."

Russell is facing charges of public intoxication and disorderly conduct.
