Last updated on Thursday, January 15, 2015

(LINTON) - The Linton Police Department is asking the public for assistance following a Monday morning accident that involved a bicyclist being hit by a car and then fleeing the scene.

According to a Linton Police report, a juvenile on his way to school was struck by a maroon or red passenger car with a loud exhaust and a silver or gray spoiler, possibly a Pontiac Grand Am.

The accident happened around 7:20 a.m. on North West K Street in Linton.

According to the juvenile, he had dropped his cell phone and had got off his bike to pick it up when he was struck by the car.

The juvenile, who suffered minor injuries, was taken to the Greene County Hospital for treatment.

Police have looked to locate the car, but have had no luck.

Police are baffled on why the driver didn't stopped, especially after striking a juvenile.

Anyone with any information on the vehicle or the driver is asked to contact the Linton Police Department at (812) 847-4411.
