(LINTON) - A Linton man is facing charges of resisting law enforcement, battery, battery by bodily waste, public intoxicate and disorderly conduct.

Officers arrested 28-year-old Larry R. Barnard, after an incident on Jan. 2.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Linton officers were called to the Palace Bar to deal with a man who was refusing to leave.

Officers asked Barnard to step outside when Barnard stated "I probably had too much to drink."

Barnard then began walking south in the roadway, so officers told Barnard to get out of the road and walk on the sidewalk.

About five minutes later, officers found Barnard lying face-down in the road on Southwest First Street. Police called for an ambulance.

EMTs placed Barnard on a cot and into the ambulance and was transported to Greene County Hospital. However about a block from the scene, Barnard regained consciousness and the ambulance had to stop because he became combative with the EMTs.

An officer who was following the ambulance to the hospital stopped to ride the rest of the way to the hospital with Barnard.

Barnard then began swinging his arms in an attempt to get out of the ambulance and hitting the officer and an EMT.

Barnard allegedly struck the EMT in the arm and then the officer in the chest and was grabbing at the officer's hand injuring the officer's hand causing it to bleed. Once the officer was able to control Barnard, he then began spitting at the officer.

Barnard reportedly calmed down after arriving at the hospital, and after he was checked over and cleared, he was transported to the Greene County Jail. His trial date is set for May 26.
