(JASONVILLE) - Jasonville Police arrested 18-year-old Morganne Gilbertson on charges of child molesting after she allegedly admitted that she and a child touched each other’s breasts.
Gilbertson is charged with a felony count of fondling or touching a child under the age of 14 and a class B misdemeanor of inappropriate communication with a child.
Gilbertson has since posted a $1,500 cash bond. She is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 25.
According to a probable cause affidavit, Jasonville Police and Indiana State Police were contacted after the Department of Child Services received a report that a 13-year-old girl was sexually active with Gilbertson.
During a police interview, Gilbertson first admitted that she and the child had touched each other's breasts, but that was all. Later she allegedly admitted that she had been involved in a physical relationship with the minor since September, when the two were dared to kiss.
Gilbertson told police she knew the girl was only 13, and that they had held hands and touched one another's breasts on more than one occasion.
The girl told police that she and Gilbertson had held hands, kissed, cuddled, touched each other and participated in sexual activity three or four times. The two communicated with each other through Facebook and text messages.
A witness told police that they had seen Gilbertson and the girl hold hands and kiss on the cheek, and that the two had slept in the same bed one night.
