Jan. 26 Caucus To Fill Indian Creek Township Advisory Board Vacancy

Last updated on Monday, January 19, 2015

(BEDFORD) - A caucus is scheduled for Jan. 26 at 2 p.m. to fill the Indian Creek Township Advisory Board vacancy created by the resignation of Standley Wright.

The caucus will be held at 1117 16th St.

Wright, who is also a volunteer firefighter for Indian Creek Volunteer Fire Department, resigned from the township advisory board post because a law, which went into effect last year, prohibits a person from serving as a volunteer firefighter and also serving in an elective office that receives fire protection from the fire department he serves.

Wright, a Republican, submitted his letter of resignation to Patty Ford, the party's county chairwoman, who then called the caucus of the two precinct committeemen.

Dallas Bolton has submitted a letter of candidacy to fill the position.

Other interested in the post have until 2 p.m. on Jan. 23 to submit a letter to Ford, expressing interest in the position.

If multiple candidates do seek the seat and the two committeemen are divided on which one will fill the position, Ford would cast a vote to determine the successful candidate.
