IU School Of Informatics And Computing Sees Enrollment Surge

Last updated on Friday, January 23, 2015

(BLOOMINGTON) - Indiana University officials say a school department devoted to information technology and its applications to other fields has seen its enrollment nearly triple in the last seven years.

IU's School of Informatics and Computing has grown from about 400 undergraduates in 2007 to just under 1,200 students last year.

School Dean Bobby Schnabel tells The Herald-Times the school is attracting a wide range of students because those students can blend informatics with business, health, art and other topics.

He says a well-paying job market that has more positions than applicants is also fueling the Bloomington school's growth.
