(FREETOWN) - A Freetown woman had to be freed from her vehicle after the car she was driving crashed into a tree Sunday morning.
According to a Jackson County Police report, 63-year-old Kathryn Rudolph suffered pelvic and chest injuries in a wreck on State Road 135, just south of Freetown.
Rudolph lost control of her Dodge Durango on the ice-covered roadway and struck a tree.
Firefighters from Brownstown and Pershing Township volunteer firefighters responded to the wreck at 8:50 a.m. Rescue workers had to use the Jaws of Life to free Rudolph from the wreckage.
One of the first emergency workers on the scene was Rudolph's son, Clint, who is a trauma nurse at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour. Another son, Jackson County Officer Ben Rudoph, was working the crash scene.
Rudolph was alert and able to talk with emergency personnel at the scene. She was treated by personnel with the Jackson County Emergency Medical Services before being taken to an emergency landing zone set up at State Road 135 and State 58. A StatFlight helicopter took her from there to University of Louisville Hospital for treatment.
