(SALEM) - A fire on New Year's Eve damaged a Salem home.
When the Salem Fire Department arrived at 907 North Main Street they found the homeowners outside and smoke bellowing out of the home.
Fire Chief Ron Wilcox says smoke was coming out of the first and second floors.
Wilcox says the fire started in the dining room area at a light fixture on the ceiling and the fire was trapped between the ceiling and second floor.
More than 20 firefighters had the fire under control quickly, but remained on the scene for about four hours removing insulation and drywall to battle hot spots.
